Abstract
Endometriosis in genitourinary tract most commonly involves the urinary bladder, bu i renal and ureteral endometriosis also have been reported. Since the first case of vesical end.metriosis had been reported in 1921, more than 200 cases were reported in English literature. The incidence of vesical endometriosis is about 2% in the large reported series.
The authors report a case of vesical endometriosis in a 40-year-old woman who complained of dysuria and frequent urination for 3 years in spite of appropriate antibiotic therapy. On cystoscopic findings, a round transparent dark blue mass located at the posterior w. and dome of urinary bladder, and so it was interpreted as a hemangioma. On partial cystectomy, the mass, measuring 3.0 x 2.3 x 2.0cm in size, showed numerous clusters of variably sized cysts just beneath the intact bladder mucosa. Microscopically many irregular cystic spaces were scattered throughout the whole layers. Each cystic space was made of tall columuar r: gular epithelium and surrounding stroma of endometrial type.
